House Of Order Day 1

I had done a little work before today.  I went around my house and made a few lists.  Read a few blogs about organizing and setting up chore charts for kids.

These are the lists that I made.  I also made a binder with my list along with notebooks.  I love making list, so having a notebook devoted to whatever thing I am trying to accomplish is very helpful.

Household cleaning Schedule
(I always try and do a general pick-up in the morning and in the evening before Michael come home.  Just so overall things are picked up and put away.  This usually only takes a few minutes if I am on top of things.)

  • Weekly cleaning- I am planning on spending an hour a day on this item.  Each day of the week is a different area of the house.
  • Bi-Weekly cleaning- Something I concentrate on during the week as I do my daily cleaning. Week 1 is closets and Cupboards & Week 2 Storage, Van, Garage
  • Monthly Cleaning- Bigger items such as windows, baseboards, touching up paint.
I am hoping the more I get on top of things around the house I can pay more attention to DEEP CLEANING these items.  I feel like my house is picked up, but not really CLEAN!

Household Maintenance List- Things that need to be checked by a professional periodically.  I figure if I try and do one of them every 2 months, I can afford it and I will know things in my house are working well.

Organize- Things that I need to work out a system of organization.

House for Sale List-  This is a long & expensive list.  These are things that would have to be done to Sell my house.  I am hoping to do some of these things slowly to enjoy where I live more.

Kids Chore Chart- I worked out a system that works for our family.  I think it is different for every family and what works for you.  My kids are just starting to realize that they can actually do chores.  I am not a huge supporter of allowance so this is a way for my kids to earn money on my terms.  I will do another post explaining our new system another day, and link it to here.  I also think you sometimes have to change your system up.  Kids get board, a simple change can make all the difference when it comes to helping out and doing their part.
